About CERES
CERES is an environmental education centre, community garden, urban farm and social enterprise hub spread across four locations, linked by the Merri and Darebin Creeks on Wurundjeri Country, Naarm (Melbourne). Since its very beginning in 1982, CERES (pronounced ‘series’) has become tightly woven into the fabric of the local community.
CERES is a place of inspiration, learning and hope for the future, predominately self-funded though a broad range of programs and enterprises. We are a registered charity, CERES EARTH Ltd, with the principal purpose of protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
For nearly four decades, CERES School of Nature and Climate has offered award-winning programs addressing the climate and ecological crises. We facilitate discovery and learning for all ages and skill levels with experiences designed to reconnect people to each other and the Earth – developing the practical skills, knowledge, leadership qualities and community resilience essential for the future.
CERES’ work is made possible through generous community support.

About Fair Food - Our Story
CERES Fair Food started out in the 2000s as CERES’ very own staff co-op, and the supplier to ten neighbourhood food co-ops. Fast forward to 2010, and inspired by our friends at Toronto’s Good Food Box and Brisbane’s Food Connect, we transformed our humble co-ops into a small, bustling online grocery service.
Our offering in those early days was ruthlessly simple. From a small warehouse across the Merri creek, we curated a handful of boxes with a small range of extra groceries, and delivered just twice a week. As we grew from those early days, we held onto our passion for supporting our local farmers, celebrating the seasons and creating jobs for people from all walks of life.
And the results have been nothing short of amazing! These days Fair Food delivers six days a week Melbourne-wide, with next day delivery and a huge range of fruit, veg and ethical groceries. Together with our incredible customers (some who have been with us since the very beginning), we support nearly 200 growers and makers, and reinvest 100% of our profits back to CERES.
We’re so proud of our social enterprise. And we love working together to strengthen our food system, minimise waste and make a joyful, positive impact in our community.
